"High School Musical" star Vanessa Hudgens has signed on for the teen romance flick "Beastly." The story is based on the novel b Alex Flinn about a vain New York teen who is transformed to look ugly in order to find true love, Variety reports.The film will be directed by Daniel Barnz, who also wrote the script. Hudgens was also recently cast in the all-girl action flick"Sucker Punch," co-written and directed by Zack Snyder of "300" and "Watchmen" fame.

Set in the 1950s, "Sucker Punch" is about a young woman (played by Emily Browning of "The Uninvited") who
undergoes a lobotomy and is institutionalized by her wicked stepfather. While institutionalized she enters her own fantasy world, where she must steal objects in order to escape. The film also stars Jena Stone, Abbie Cornish and Jamie Chung.This summer, Hudgens' fans can see her in the teen musical comedy "Bandslam," in which she stars as "weird" rocker chick Sam and once again has to sing her heart out on the screen.

Making for quite the pairing, Vanessa Hudgens joined Nikki Reed and her close friend, musician Sage Dill, for an afternoon of shopping along the trendy Melrose Avenue on Thursday
The “High School Musical” hottie stopped in at Fred Segal and Diesel while Reed and Dill shopped for their footwear needs at London Boots.
According to a paparazzo on the scene, the trio eventually met up for lunch at Lala’s Argentine Grill - drawing looks from curious passerbys.
The outing comes after Nikki and Sage’s recent return to the States from Vancouver, where Miss Reed has been filming the “Twilight” sequel “New Moon”.
